*조교(弔橋), *트러스교(truss橋), *보강아치교(補剛arch橋), *아치교(arch橋) 등의 구조물(構造物)에서 수직방향(垂直方向)으로 *인장력(引 張力)을 받는 부재(部材). 행거(hanger)라고도 한다. 조교, 아치교에서는 재료(材料)로서 *고장력강(高張力鋼)을 사용한 와이어 로프(wire rope)나 강봉(鋼棒)이 흔히 사용된다. 트러스교나 보강아치교에서는 *형강(形鋼)이나 *강판(鋼板)을 조합하여 조재로 하는 경우가 많다.
