*안전측선(安全側 線)의 대용(代用)이 되도록 사용하는 것으로, *레일(rail) 위에 놓고 *차륜(車輪)이 *선로(線路)에서 벗어나도록 하는 *철(鐵) 의 주물(鑄物). *전철기(轉轍器)가 *열차(列車)를 통과(通過)시키는 쪽으로 전환(轉換)되어 있지 않을 때에 전철기와 *연동(連動)하여, 탈선기의 양쪽 모두 또는 다른 한쪽을 탈선시키고자 하는 위치의 레일 위에 놓고 *차량(車輛)을 탈선시킨다. 현재는 대부분 사용되지 않는다.
